HOUSING LENDING RESUMES IN KHARKIV
The city authorities and the SFYH renewed the City Target Program for the Purchase of Affordable Housing until 2030.
The Kharkiv city authorities, in strategic partnership with the State Agency for Youth Housing, have renewed the City Targeted Program for the Construction (Purchase) of Affordable Housing for 2021-2030. Already in May, the first three young families received loans for their own housing totaling UAH 4.74 million.
The State Agency for Youth and Housing is the implementer of this program.
According to Serhii Komnatnyi, Chairman of the Board of the SFYH, the Kharkiv branch of the Fund has been a leader in implementing local programs for many years.
"Kharkiv City Council has always been a strategic partner for us, and we are very pleased to resume lending and start providing Kharkiv residents with housing. These are the first loans under the city program during the martial law. Today it is the only mortgage program operating in Kharkiv," Mr. Komnatnyi said.
The Kharkiv City Council notes that since the beginning of the full-scale war, due to significant damage to the city's infrastructure and housing stock and other objective reasons, the conclusion and financing of new contracts under the affordable housing program has been suspended.
Today, more than 4,000 residential buildings in Kharkiv have been damaged. Despite this, a significant number of residents have returned to the city. In addition, Kharkiv has received many internally displaced persons. In this regard, the city authorities decided to return to the program.
Thus, the joint efforts of the Kharkiv city authorities and the SFYH to resume the city's affordable housing program have yielded the first results since the beginning of the war. Regular attention and support from the city authorities, including the Kharkiv Mayor, ensured the result. The first loan agreements have been signed since the beginning of the war.
Here is one of the three families that received the expected support from the city budget.
Kyrylo and Yana got married in 2017, and since 2018 they have been living in a small apartment in the Northern Saltivka district of Kharkiv and thinking about getting their own home. They received advice from specialists at the local branch of the SFYH and enrolled in the city program... Meanwhile, in the summer of 2020, the family was blessed with another Kharkiv son, Mark Kirillovich.
Despite the temporary evacuation to the Poltava region, the head of the family managed to largely preserve their source of income. Even though Yana is on maternity leave to care for her son, her official income was enough to get a loan to buy a three-bedroom apartment. In the near future, the house will be put into operation and the family will become the owners of their dream oasis.
Two other families of candidates (both educators) also chose their new spacious apartments.
In the coming months, we plan to resume work on other areas of the city's affordable housing program. This is what Kharkiv families are waiting for.
