Seeking Investments for Housing Programmes
Today a working meeting of the Fund’s leadership with a representative of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has taken place in the premises of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction. The international institution was represented by Yaroslav Demchenkov, National Project Coordinator for Partnership and Business Development of UNOPS at the meeting.
Serhii Komnatnyi, Chairman of the Board of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction, got the guest acquainted with the institution’s activities and informed about the prospects of development of the Fund’s international cooperation. This area of work has been substantially reinforced in recent years. The guest highly assessed the scope and intensity of contacts of the institution with foreign partners.
The conceptual project proposals in the sphere of housing policy, which had been drafted by the specialists of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction for potential donors, were presented during the meeting. Attracting of extra budgetary funding for housing programmes is aimed at the expansion of citizens’ possibilities to solve their housing issue.
UNOPS is a specialized diplomatic non-profit institution of the Unites Nations providing services in infrastructure development, public purchases, project management, financial management and human resources management.
Annually UNOPS implements over thousand projects in more than 80 countries. The organization is a world leader in the sphere of public purchases, it works according to the International Accounting Standards for public sector.
The UNOPS mandate encompasses interaction with private sector, support and implementation of projects that are able to exert substantial social impact.
UNOPS representation for Ukraine was opened in 2017. It operates as a regional hub providing services also to Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
UNOPS performs projects directed at implementation of sustainable solutions in energetics, social protection, healthcare etc. Projects being implemented by UNOPS in Ukraine are financed by the governments of the USA, Canada, Japan, Ukraine and the European Union. The projects are performed as the international technical assistance projects.
The Ukrainian office of the organization informed that it plans to prepare a number of new projects in Ukraine, in particular, in the sphere of housing affordability.
